Teresa and Mark Chiesa welcomed Michael Keith Chiesa into the world on December 7, 1987 in Aurora, Colorado, in the United States. He also goes by the moniker “Maverick.”

In 2008, Michael Chiesa began training to be a professional mixed martial artist. He participated in a number of local competitions in the Pacific Northwest and went 7-0 in his first battles.
Michael quickly was chosen by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) as one of the 32 lightweight competitors for the inaugural season of the live reality series The Ultimate Fighter.
In the elimination round, he defeated Johnavan Vistante to earn the fifth spot on Team Faber. He lost his father not long after winning.
Then, Michael defeated Jeremy Larsen. Justin Lawrence squared off against Michael Chiesa in the quarterfinals.
