Early Life of Sulaiman Merchant

The ancestral town of Salim–Sulaiman is located in Mundra, which is located in the state of Gujarat.

Sulaiman Merchant was born on December 21, 1970, while his brother Salim Merchant was born on March 3, 1974.

Their father Sadruddin Merchant, who used to be the leader of the Ismaili Scouts Orchestra in India, served as a major influence on them.

Salim mastered the piano on at the Trinity College of Music in London, while Sulaiman took up tabla training with such legendary musicians as Taufiq Qureshi and Ustad Zakir Hussain. Both Salim and Sulaiman were influenced by their father, Sadruddin Merchant, a veteran of the film industry and a composer.
