Sunita Chand Rajwar (Gullak): As a Comedian
From ‘Gullak’ to ‘Panchayat,’ Sunita Rajwar Has Proven That She Is One Of The Few Comedians In Bollywood With Perfect Timing.
When viewed on TV, comedy may give the impression of being effortless or straightforward, but in reality, it is a very difficult nut to crack. If that weren’t the case, Bollywood would be home to a much greater quantity and quality of excellent comedies than it now is.
Let me clarify something before you criticise us for saying it: we cannot consider movies like Masti (and its sequels), Housefull (and its pointless sequels), or Pyaar ka Punchnama to be good comedy for the sake of good filmmaking.
The more recent crop of comedies in Indian cinema isn’t as as good as the older films in the genre, but there are some outstanding classic comedies in Indian cinema that you can watch over and over again.
On the other hand, it makes us extremely happy to observe that a small number of movies and web series, such as Stree and Gullak, are pushing the comedy subgenre into unexplored terrain and displaying excellent actors who have the ability to make you laugh in an instant.
One thing that never changes, however, when it comes to Hindi comedies is the underappreciation of female actresses who have remarkable wit and charm.
There aren’t many names that come to mind when you think of women comics who have appeared in mainstream Hindi films, and despite the fact that prominent heroines such as Sridevi and Juhi Chawla were excellent at presenting the comedic side of themselves, they were rarely praised for their performances in comedic roles.
Sunita Chand Rajwar (Gullak): Controversy
Nawazuddin Siddiqui, in his memoir, ‘An Ordinary Life,’ alleged that his relationship with Sunita went sore because, maybe she wanted to be with someone more successful, and not a struggling, desperate actor who was out of work.
Later, the actress said that she broke up with Nawaz after having finding out that he had been revealing intimate details of their affair to some mutual friends.
Sunita Chand Rajwar (Gullak): Interviews
The first two seasons got so much love from the audience. Are you excited or nervous for the third season of Gullak?
There is a lot of excitement as the third season of Gullak is coming. The characters were introduced in the first season, we went one level ahead in the second season and in the third season, we are going to the next level. As the show is maturing, there is a lot of excitement as well as nervousness.
What made you say yes to this project?
People have started recognizing me more after Gullak. I was not that popular when the show came to me. So I didn’t have the opportunity where I can choose the project because the audiences have only seen me playing negative or comic roles in television shows.
I felt that my character in Gullak was not only negative or comic, it was something else. Also, it was directed by a good director, production was also good and the character which I was offered was also good. So there was no option for me to say no to the project.
Talking about bonding, Geetanjali Kulkarni is my senior from NSD. So I knew her from the beginning. Jameel is a very good actor, whereas Harsh and Vaibhav both are very talented kids. They know what exactly they want from their career, both are very focused actors.
Working with them was a very good experience. From day one we all got together like a family and I had an amazing experience working with all of them.
Gullak Season 3 will have stars like Jameel Khan, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Vaibhav Raj Gupta, Harsh Mayar, and a few others. The show will be premiered on Sony Liv.
Well, after getting massive love for her character in the first two seasons, the actress is all set to be a part of Gullak season 3. Are you excited about the show? Do let us know in the comment section.
